Not as easy as it looks

Beta #3 was 3200. My numbers are great.
My OB told me that I could get a sono at week 5 because the numbers were so high that there could be more than one bean in here. Well, the numbers are not that high, but my OB is not used to testing this early either..anyways, I went ahead and got the sono done. Who would decline a sono, right?? There is one baby. Measuring a couple of days ahead. There is also a subchronich hemorrhage. Great, right?? Well, the OB that was at the office when I got the sono thought that I was bleeding already and went ahead and gave me "the speech"...well, it is early, don´t keep your hopes up...and all that...I told him I wasn´t bleeding, but the tech wanted him to review the sono results. He said that we could do another sono in 2 weeks, at 7 weeks. The hemorrhage is very small (.4 cm), so we have a pretty good chance.

After this sono, I came home anf felt the same way I did when I lost the other baby. Completely numb, and shocked. Why did I think that the hard times where over already??!! How could I??
It feels like I have to endure all these pregnancy symptoms until they tell me it´s over. I know I am overreacting, but I can´t help it. I hope it all works out. I am going to focus on my new teaching job that starts tomorrow, and try to make it to the next sono.
Renovation Girl, how do you do it?? You are so strong. I admire you.

  1. Oh no!!!!!!!! I've heard of people carrying to term and having a healthy baby even with one of these. Focusing on work right now sounds like a good idea - just don't work too hard! Thinking of you... xo Elizabeth

  2. Oh wow, I'm a bit humbled by your shout out...thank you for that. You said it yourself-you have a good chance. My RE is pretty honest that he has many success stories that he didn't have a hand in...there is so much more than science and numbers here. That is what you focus on. Do all you can to focus on your health and sanity. Love on that sweet girl of yours as much as you can. And no matter the outcome, I'll be here to cheer you on.

  3. Rar I am angry with your OB and his big mouth.

I am surviving after my own SCH at almost 23 wks. I dont have numbers, but I know at one point it reduced to 1cm - I think this was the 3rd u/s so mine must have been bigger?

Of course you will freak but I am here to tell you "Look here! You can make it!" Yes it is early but hold on to your hope.

  4. I found you through LFCA. I had an SCH with my second pregnancy (self-inflicted, sort of, by a botched CVS), and everything turned out fine. Mine was larger than yours, I forget by how much. Hang in there!

  5. I also found you through LFCA. I have a 3.5 month old and I had bleeding for 6 weeks from a SCH with her. I know it that it is a scary, just take it one day at a time. I hope that hearing a success story helps. I wish you all the best!

  6. Also here from LFCA, sorry to hear about the SCH. It's good that yours is small though, I hope that it doesn't cause you any issues. I developed one early on, very large (3x7.5cm) and I've made it to 19wks with it still there (mine is 1x.5cm now). More often than not things progress well despite them, and I really hope this is the case for you. But oh how I feel for you! It's so scary and hard to cope with sometimes. Hang in there, may only good things await you.

  7. Wow, I am always amazed at how powerful LFCA is. I need to remember to post more often. It makes such a big difference in how we percieve events.
I feel better about it. More at peace, I guess. I am staying healthy and positive, but trying not to get excited too often yet.
You guys are amazing though. THANKS!!

  8. Hi I came over from LFCA, and I also had a SCH at 5 weeks and I was bleeding quite a lot. I ended up on two weeks bed rest, and it re-absorbed. That baby is now two years old. Hang in there, I know how scary it can be.
